GENERAL INFO ABOUT A-615 GR 60, 40 REBAR
Manufactured from high carbon steel, both A-615 GR 60 and A-615 GR 40 rebar grades provide structural support to concrete and masonry constructions. They reinforce structures with strength and stability. With their reinforcement, they help prevent buildings and other structures from cracking, sagging, collapsing, or experiencing other unwanted and dangerous deformations. They do this by equalizing the distribution of tension and by absorbing stress.
A-615 GR 60 and A-615 GR 40 reinforce concrete slabs columns in the architectural industry. They mainly benefit medium to heavy commercial applications such as walls, roadways, driveways, parking structures, brick buildings, and skyscrapers, among others.
Both A615 GR 60 and A615 GR 40 are routinely stocked from imperial size #3 to #11.

ADVANTAGES/DISADVANTAGES
There are many advantages to using A615 grade 60 steel. It shows the highest benefit when strengthening primary and secondary concrete construction. For example, bridge, road and other constructions all benefit from this grade of rebar.
A615 grade 40 steel adds the most benefit when building materials must hold concrete in compression.
Strength is one of the differentiators for these two rebar grades. The minimum tensile strength for A615 grade 40 steel is 70.05 ksi. It has a minimum yield strength of 40 ksi. This is less than A615 grade 60 which offers a minimum tensile strength at 90 ksi and a minimum yield strength of 60 ksi. Both bar products must have meet ASTM standard specifications for a maximum phosphorus content of .060%.
